Club Activities
Besides the
monthly meetings,
the club enjoys a monthly "driving"
activity and several special tours and activities throughout the
year.
These activities include
the annual Ma & Pa tour which began in 1990. The Ma & Pa Tour is
named after the old Mt. Pleasant / Paris rail line. Later
the tour expanded to include the car clubs in Greenville, &
Texarkana. Future plans are to include the Bonham Car Club.
Although most tours are made in the
old cars to areas in Northeast Texas or
Southeast
Oklahoma, the club has toured to such places as Palo Duro Canyon in
west Texas, Branson, Missouri, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Natchitoches,
Louisiana, and Beaver Run, Colorado as well as Fredericksburg,
Texas. In fact, the club enjoyed a Caribbean cruise - without the
cars, of course.
While not designed as a civic club,
Honkers participate in a variety of community events. The Club works
with the local Chamber of Commerce helping to host visiting car
clubs, which are increasingly finding Paris a popular destination.
Members regularly organize a tour
of area nursing homes where we take our old cars and let the
residents there reminisce.
Honkers not only donate money but
also their time to ring the bells for The Salvation Army each
Christmas season as well as Meals On Wheels.
Honkers also participate in the
annual 4th of July parade in Paris. click

2010 parade.
One of the main events that the
club has reinstated is the annual car show, a tradition that began
early in the club's history.
